Dry Skin and Eczema May Be Reduced
with New Toxic Substances Control Act
21st Century Formulations, makers of Skin MD Natural dry skin and eczema treatment, warns the public to continue protecting their skin from chemicals until new legislation takes effect
21st Century Formulations, the company that developed Skin MD Natural - a breakthrough in skin care technology recommended by thousands of doctors - expects the planned updates to the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) could greatly reduce the number of people suffering from dry skin and eczema. However, the company warns that the public should continue to protect their skin from chemical exposure until the new legislation takes effect.
Skin MD Natural was designed to help prevent and treat dry skin, contact dermatitis, eczema and other skin conditions caused by exposure to chemicals. Contact dermatitis and eczema are now responsible for over 7 million visits to healthcare providers every year, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
"There are so many more chemicals in our environment now than even a couple of decades ago; everyone is at risk," said Steve Christensen, president of 21st Century Formulations. "We're focused on the damage chemicals do to the skin, but the health issues actually go far beyond that. We hope the new TSCA will help stop the proliferation of toxic chemicals."
Lisa Jackson, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), made the announcement about TSCA changes in a recent speech to the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco.
"As more and more chemicals are found in our bodies and the environment, the public is understandably anxious and confused," Ms. Jackson said. "Many are turning to government for assurance that chemicals have been assessed using the best available science, and that unacceptable risks haven't been ignored. Not only has TSCA fallen behind the industry it's supposed to regulate, it's been proven an inadequate tool for providing the protection against chemical risks that the public rightfully expects."
As with most legislation, it may be some time before it comes to pass. But the EPA has also vowed to give things a jump start by more fully utilizing their powers under the current Act. In the meantime, 21st Century Formulations recommends Skin MD Natural shielding lotion for those who suffer from dry skin and eczema for continued protection.
